The first Health Challenge Pembrokeshire Partners' Networking event has been held at at Withybush Showground. The aim of the event was to raise awareness of the range of factors that contribute to health and well- being. It was also designed to highlight the successes of a number of projects currently being developed as part of the current Health Challenge Pembrokeshire Strategy. Staff from partner organisations enjoyed presentations on out-of-hours learning, chronic condition nurse practitioners, smoking cessation, the 12-week lifestyle challenge, the anti-spiking campaign, improving nutrition for all ages and partnership working. There were also displays by 'Eat Right, Smile Bright', PAVS, Pembrokeshire Mind and Age Concern Pembrokeshire. Clr. Sian James, cabinet member for health and well-being said: "Much has been achieved since the launch of the first Health Challenge Pembrokeshire strategy in April 2005. "The challenge of improving health care and social- care services and of persuading people to take greater responsibility for their own health and well- being will be a priority for some years to come. "This event has provided a valuable opportunity for staff in partner organisations to see the contribution their work is making and to explore how they, and the groups they work with, can be involved in the forthcoming revision of the strategy." Health Challenge Pembrokeshire is a partnership of organisations working to improve health and well- being.
