The summer term is well underway, and Years 11, 12 and 13 are heavily involved in public examinations. Work Experience: Year 10 students have just returned from a week's work experience, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Their placements included hotels, veterinary surgeries, schools and architect's practices. Gareth Morgan spent a strenuous week at the National Botanical Garden of Wales, where he discovered that there's more to 'Groundforce' than a bit of decking and a few pots! Robyn Layton spent her week with the sheepdogs at the centre in St. David's, while other students were placed at The Fourcroft Hotel, Heywood Mount Hotel, The Claremont Hotel and Blueberry's. We are grateful to all the employers and to Careers Wales West for giving these young people the opportunity to see what the world of work is really like. Saundersfoot in Bloom: Netherwood pupils have been very busy producing posters for this competition, and once again were very successful, with Rose Gallagher being named as the overall winner. Other prize-winners were: Tudor Hurle, Skye Murray, Morgan Scourfield, Joanna Weedon, Natasha Fiddy and Grace Scourfield. They were presented with their awards at a ceremony held at Pentlepoir School last week. Sport: Two teams from Netherwood travelled to Llandovery College last week to play netball. The U15 team drew, and the U14 team lost, but all played well, and each game was hard fought. Jessica Wilkinson and Rosie Thompson attended the county netball trials at Haverfordwest last week, and Rosie was successful, and has been chosen for the County U16 squad. Jessica was unlucky this year, but will have another chance next year. Gardening: Year 5 had a very busy day last Friday, when they dug out a vegetable patch and flower garden behind their classroom, as their contribution to National School Grounds Week. They also planted pumpkin seeds in preparation for the Country Living magazine giant pumpkin competition. We will all be watching very carefully as their plants grow. Well done Year 5 and Mrs. Jenkins. Today is Netherwood's annual Summer Fayre, so if you are looking for somewhere to spend a pleasant afternoon come along to the school from 1.30 pm and enjoy the many stalls, teas, delicious cakes and good company.
