Well, we've been back for the summer term for a couple of weeks now and it looks like this term is going to be as eventful as last term. On March 19, all infants and juniors took part in our annual Swimming Gala. There were many close- fought and exciting races and everyone tried their hardest. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. After school, infant and junior pupils enjoyed the Fun Club Easter Party playing a variety of games for Easter egg prizes which was followed by a delicious tea, including Miss Evans's homemade Easter egg nests. Thanks to everyone who helped out. March 19 was an extremely busy day for Netherwood School; our soccer team played away against St. John's, Porthcawl, unfortunately losing four goals to three. It was an exciting match, especially since at one stage we were leading 3-0. Our goal scorers were Johnnie Delahunty, George Sopromadze and Mohammed Al Samra. Peter Scammell had an excellent game in goal. Well played everyone and better luck next time. Also on the same day, our netball team played away against St. John's, winning 20-2. Maziah Mohammad, of Year 7, played very well and was to be congratulated on her shooting. This term started with excellent news. All the pupils who had taken their LAMDA exams before Easter had passed. Seventeen exams were taken, eight distinctions, four merits and five passes. Congratulations to Astrid Bowen, who gained distinction in her grade 8 verse and prose, which means that her UCAS total stands at 100 points. We all wish to thank Mrs. Jill Rawlings for all her hard work and commitment. Every year she has astounding success with her students. Another pupil to be congratulated is Johnnie Delahunty. During the Easter holiday he attended a four-day camp at the National Pool in Swansea with the West Wales Regional Squad. It was extremely demanding - poolside from 7.30 am to 6 pm! In the middle of May, he will go to Leeds with the Regional Squad in the Sportsaid Unison Open Meet at the John Charles Aquatic Centre. We wish him lots of luck. Johnnie also plays for Tenby Under 15s football and played in the Cup Final against Johnston which they won. Our Year 8 Public Speaking team travelled to London on Sunday, April 27, for the final in the Rotary Youth Speaks competition. Although they didn't win, they performed extremely well and deserve our congratulations for getting to this stage in the competition. Finally, the cast of Annie is rehearsing constantly. The public performances will take place at 7 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, May 7 and 8. Tickets are now available from Mrs. Macnaghten. We look forward to seeing you!
