The end of the spring term proved particularly busy for pupils at Netherwood this year, with activities ranging from Easter egg hunts to swimming galas to French breakfasts!

Key Stage Two pupils enjoyed an afternoon of Easter fun, having already made Easter bonnets for a competition to be held that day. At first, they made delicious Easter truffles to take home. This was followed by an egg-rolling race. The eggs had been dyed with food dye and had waxed designs on them, and Harry Vickery won the race.

Later, eggs featured again when the children decorated some more for a competition judged by Mr. Morris, who said that they were all wonderful, but Grant's was the most wonderful.

Mr. Morris then had the difficult job of choosing the best Easter bonnet. After much deliberation, Nathan Short's was adjudged the winner, with Ele Scourfield and Lewis Murray the runners-up. The afternoon ended with a raffle in which every child won two Easter eggs. KS2 staff worked hard to arrange such an enjoyable afternoon and would like to thank the parents for the generous donation of eggs.

Mrs. Macnaghten and Year 8 ended the term on a high, with a French breakfast. Anyone passing the French room could not fail to miss the tantalising aroma of fresh coffee and croissants, or the atmospheric 'café music' playing throughout. What a wonderful way to learn French!

The annual cross country competition was held this year on a dry, bright afternoon and the participants enjoyed an excellent course set by Mrs. James and Mr. Stamp. Members of staff were dotted around the course to ensure that no one took a short cut, and there were many notable performances. All pupils completed the course, but as always, some are just that bit faster and stronger.

Leading participants were as follows: Years 3, 4 and 5 - 1. Morgan Scourfield; 2. Grant Hughes; 3. Lewis Murray; 4. Joanna Weedon. Years 6 and 7 - 1. Daniel Thomas; 2. Cara Collins; 3. Katsuhiro Ikeda; 4. Arjun Walapu. Years 8 and 9 - 1. James Phillips; 2. Johnnie Delahunty; 3. Cheuk Man; 4. Jade Mason. Years 10 and 11 - Joint 1. James Maxwell and Josh Fiddy; 3. Ben Cook; 4. Ka Tsun.

The whole event ran smoothly, thanks to the excellent organisation skills of the PE staff. Senior pupils are now well into their exam preparation, and Year 10 pupils are looking forward to work experience. It looks like it's going to be another busy term.
