Netherwood Prize Day is a very special day in the school calendar, as it is the day when they celebrate the success of the school, and it was a very proud principal, Mr. D. Huw Morris, who informed the audience of the excellent results.

The results bode well for the future, particularly as September 2001 will see the introduction of Sixth Form studies at Netherwood, exciting times indeed.

Mr. Morris then introduced the guest speaker, Mr. John Stuart Roberts, who has recently retired to Saundersfoot after a distinguished career in broadcasting with BBC Wales. He congratulated the pupils on doing well, while reminding them that there is also a need to do good in this world - a valuable lesson.

He presented the prizes with such care and thoughtfulness that each pupil, whether from Year 1 or Year 11, felt really special.

The appreciative audience were also treated to some magical musical moments throughout the morning. The Pre-Prep Department presented CampFire songs and poems, written and directed by Mrs. Candy Pattison, and the Wind Ensemble, and School Choir performed under the baton of Head of Music, Miss Gayle Davies.

Solo items were beautifully performed by the following: piano - Elizabeth Halpin and Ayumi Ahn, and clarinet - two veterans of the Netherwood stage, Lisa McMann and Claire Hovey.

The Head Boy, Neil Murray, and the Head Girl, Claire Hovey, both made excellent speeches, after which coffee was served on the patio.

A superb gym display followed, entitled 'War of the Worlds', imaginatively devised and arranged by Mrs. Candy Pattison and pupils of the Pre-Prep Department.

The House cups and shields were then presented and there was great excitement when Mrs. Evans announced that, for the second year running, Harris house had won the Academic Shield.

Mr. Morris then made presentations to Miss Gayle Davies, Head of Music, and Mrs. Nicole Evans, who organised the day. He then delighted pupils and staff by announcing the official end of term.

Another happy, successful Prize Day, following a happy, successful term. A list of the prize-winners follows.
