Swallow Tree Gardens, Saundersfoot, was the venue during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October for a fund-raiser in aid of Tenovus, Ward 10, Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, and the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Singleton Hospital, Swansea.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hancock and Mrs. Debbie Webber kindly hosted this fund-raiser.
The event took the form of a ladies luncheon and an evening dinner. The lunch ladies were entertained by two well known Pembrokeshire characters, Arnold and Arket, who delighted everyone with their own imitable style.
The ladies then released a Tenovus balloon in memory of a loved one or someone who is presently undergoing cancer treatment.
The evening dinner was another sellout, with the guest speaker being Mrs. Ruth Webb, who delighted the ladies with many humorous anecdotes.
A raffle was held at the evening dinner, courtesy of many generous donations given by local business people, with one of the highlights being the generous offer of the Swallow Tree chefs, Debbie Neal and Mel Fairman, to cook a meal for 12 persons with a waitress to assist in the serving.
Lloyds TSB kindly match-funded this event by £500. The total amount raised was £3,950.
Tenovus received £3,000, Ward 10, Haverfordwest, £500, and the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Singleton, where Mrs. Denise Towns is currently undergoing treatment, £450.
Mrs. Towns would like to thank most sincerely all those who so generously made this event such a success.
