The eighth annual 'Walk in the Park' around Llys-y- Fran Reservoir was held on Sunday. The event, organised by the Tenby and District branch of Diabetes Cymru, attracted 95 walkers of all ages and abilities who braved the challenging six-and-a-half-mile walk to raise funds for the charity. The walk was very successful and all walkers managed to finish before the rain set in. The pledges of sponsorship so far are in excess of £4,500. The committee would like to thank everyone who helped, those who donated raffle prizes, water containers, squash and biscuits for the refreshment stations, etc., and, of course, a special thank you to all the walkers, without whom the event would not happen. Also thanks go to Mike and Maureen Worcester for all their hard work in the organisation. All the money raised by the walk goes towards research into diabetes, which affects over two- million people in the UK. People with diabetes have too much glucose in their blood and not enough insulin to control it. The condition is usually managed by a combination of regular physical exercise, healthy diet and, depending on the type of diabetes, tablets or insulin injections. The next fund-raising event is to be a car treasure hunt on June 22. Call (01834) 812491/812025 or (01834) 813132 for information.
