On the fourth Sunday in Advent, the congregation at the 10 am Eucharist at St. Mary's Church, Tenby, were delighted to be able to enjoy the Sunday Funday's excellent retelling of the story of the nativity.

With music, singing, poetry and actions, the children shared with the congregation the wonder of the angels, the shepherds, the wise men and the birth of Our Lord in a tiny stable in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago.

All those present greatly appreciated the effort and dedication of the adult leaders in preparing the children for this special event and were impressed by the clarity and quality of the children's presentation.

The approach of Christmas Day was very much enhanced by this lovely performance. Leader Nan expressed the thanks of all of the group for the brilliant present each received from the church, a visit to the panto, Scrooge, and sweets to enjoy during the performance!

At the beginning of the service, presentations of charitable gifts were made to representatives of two most worthy charities. Meryl Sharp accepted a cheque on behalf of HOPE and Serena Bonser was the recipient for the gift for Combat Stress.

These donations were made as a result of the magnificent catering work carried out by The Soupermen, who regularly make similar donations from any profits made by their group.

Both cheques were presented by Terry Evans, the secretary of The Soupermen, who are such talented and dedicated gentlemen.

Friends of St. Mary's may be interested to learn that January 1 marked the first day of a three-month combined Soupermen Diet, coming to a close at the end of Lent. Anyone who would be prepared to sponsor this joint weight loss scheme may wish to contact Terry or any of the Soupermen. Your cash will be gratefully received and will again be donated to charity.
