Interested in a career in practical conservation or estate management? If so, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s Skills in Action traineeship may be for you!

The Park Authority is running a taster day in April to introduce people to the project, which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Skills for the Future scheme.

Skills in Action project co-ordinator for Pembrokeshire Coast Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, Tom Iggleden, said: “The aim of the taster day is to give people the opportunity to find out more about the traineeship and also the work of the National Park Warden and Ranger teams. This should help potential applicants decide whether it’s something they’d like to do.”

The Pembrokeshire taster day will offer a chance to try out practical activities and give an insight into what the traineeships will involve. The session will take place at:

Portfield Gate Woods, near Haverfordwest, at 1.30 pm on Friday, April 8.

The traineeship can provide the skills and experience that are essential to be successful in obtaining employment within a highly competitive sector. The main duties of the one-year placement will include practical hands on work-based experience in conservation and estate management and working towards a Level 2 City and Guilds Qualification in Work-Based Environmental Conservation.

Skills in Action is a three-year project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Skills for the Future programme and is a partnership between the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Torfaen County Borough Council.
