THE 'exemplary service' given to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority by outgoing chairman Clr. Gordon Cawood was referred to by several speakers at last week's annual meeting of the authority.
Clr. Cawood stood down after four consecutive years in the chair. He has been chairman for five of the last seven years.
The new chairman, Clr. Stephen Watkins, led the praises, speaking of Clr. Cawood as a "sterling figure in the leadership of the Park," and chief executive, Nic Wheeler, said Clr. Cawood had represented the authority "in an exemplary manner and had been a wonderful ambassador for Pembrokeshire as a whole."
As a token of appreciation, Clr. Watkins presented his predecessor with a slate National Park razorbill badge.
Responding, Clr. Cawood spoke of the support, help and encouragement he had always received from all the members and Park staff, and extended his particular thanks to the chief executive.
The new vice-chairman of the authority is Clr. Simon Hancock.
