A LEADING film company that left city life behind to base its business in Pembrokeshire has been given a national award for innovation.

Radiant Productions, run by former BBC programme makers, is based in old stables on a farm in Lawrenny. It's already giving big film production companies based in Cardiff a run for their money through innovative use of its website. Now its achievements have been recognised with a prestigious national award for use of eCommerce.

At a glittering awards ceremony at the Cardiff International Arena this week, Radiant Media won the Welsh Business Award for eCommerce, beating dozens of competitors from across the country. It was one of only nine businesses in Wales to pick up coveted awards at the event.

" We are very honoured and excited to win this award," said Rachel Hicks, director.

"We left the BBC in Bristol less than four years ago to set up Radiant Media, and we chose Pembrokeshire because it's a beautiful and inspirational place to live and work.

"It's not our clients' fault that they don't live in Pembrokeshire. We just have to help them deal with that. We wanted to show that a high tech, professional film company can operate from the Welsh countryside, and still compete with city based firms," added Adrian Lort-Phillips, director.

Radiant developed a new way of working which allows their clients to watch every stage of their film as it develops.

"We know they can't always sit in the edit suite with us, so this is the next best thing. They can log on to check progress or view draft films, at any time of day or night, wherever they are in the world."

The company has received a huge number of plaudits for its state of the art website http://www.radiantmedia.co.uk">www.radiantmedia.co.uk.

"Since we launched our website nine months ago, clients say they've chosen us because of the site and because we're so easy to work with. Our turnover has increased by 300 percent."

Radiant Media worked with St. Davids web design team, Globe Orange, to develop the cutting edge website.

Peter Roberts, managing director, said after the ceremony: "We're thrilled for Radiant. It's great that Globe Orange could help Radiant find a way to lead the field from this county. Both our companies are very similar in that we've chosen to come back here to operate. Internet technology makes this possible like never before."

The champagne event hosted by Gyles Brandreth was attended by 700 guests, including government ministers and business leaders from across Wales.
