Mumbles 18 pts. Narberth Ath. 19

Narberth went to Mumbles RFC with a much changed team from the one that beat Whitland Wanderers in the Pembrokeshire Cup, as some players were injured and others were called up for duty in the first team squad.

Both sides took a while to settle down and produced some scrappy play. The Athletic took advantage of a well-healed midfield scrum and makeshift scrum-half James Davies launched the back line into a wide attack, which ended with a well-taken unconverted try in the far right corner.

Mumbles replied soon after with an unconverted try by their stand-off.

Narberth Athletic scored a second try from a break by outside-half Matthew Davies, who completed a 50-yard run, beating three defenders on the way, but Mumbles produced a further try before half-time.

Mumbles started more positively in the second half and scored a further converted try, before the visitors struck back with a penalty.

The Athletic's workload increased in the last 10 minutes and the visitors pressurised the Mumbles defence which resulted in a 30-yard penalty in the last two minutes of the game, kicked by Mathew Davies, to give the visitors a narrow win to round off an excellent week for the team.
