Narberth's Mayor-designate for 2013/14 is Clr. Mrs. Ruth Platt (pictured right).
Currently Deputy Mayor, she was unanimously elected for the post by councillors at their monthly meeting on Tuesday night after being proposed by Clr. Colin Williams and seconded by First Citizen Clr. Ms. Suzanne Radford-Smith.
Clr. Mrs. Platt, who was previously Mayor in 2009/10, has been a member of the council for 13 years and works as an admin support assistant for Pembrokeshire County Council.
Chairman of the winter carnival committee and long-serving secretary of the women's section of the Royal British Legion, Clr. Mrs. Platt is also involved with Narberth Future Forum, Civic Week, Narberth Area Renewable Energy Group, the Bus Stop Youth Club and Good Neighbour Scheme.
Serving as her deputy will be Clr. Mrs. Sue Rees, who was elected following a secret ballot against Clr. Colin Williams.
The traditional Mayor-making ceremony will take place at next month's annual general meeting of the town council, with the civic service and parade heralding the start of Civic Week in July.
