Narberth's young people are being asked to contribute their ideas to the future development of the town and suggest ways they can help make their ideas become reality.

The project is being organised by volunteers from the Narberth Enhancement Committee who have constructed a "Wishing Wall." Over the next few weeks it will be available at a variety of venues. These range from the obvious - the Youth Club and Drama Club - to the less conventional - the bus shelter on the Town Moor.

The idea came about as a result of a Narberth Enhancement Committee meeting held to discuss the possibility of holding a Future Search exercise in conjunction with SPARC. The aim is to build on the existing work of the Enhancement Committee and give as many people as possible the opportunity to get involved with implementing the town's second Action Plan.

It was immediately clear that gaining an idea of young peoples' views and aspirations was seen as a priority.

The results of the wishing wall's progress around Narberth will be assessed at a meeting to be held at Narberth Youth Club at Bloomfield at the end of June.

This will be an opportunity to hear what young people see as priorities for their town and their future. The aim will be to sort the ideas into common themes and identify potential projects that could fit in with the existing Action Plan as well as taking a look at the viability of fresh projects.

Another aspect to be discussed is the contribution that young people can make towards realising their wishes. What sort of skills are available? Who wants to be involved in particular projects. So the Wishing Wall is not just an invitation to think up ideas but to help make them happen too.

Anyone interested in helping with the project or receiving a visit from the Wall should contact Wendy Paine at SPARC on (01834) 860965.
