Narberth U12s 20 pts.

Milford Haven 15

Milford never gave up and fought back well in the second half after being three tries to nil down, but it was too late as Narberth recorded their second consecutive win.

Narberth controlled the game through their powerful pack of ever-improving forwards who took the ball forward and supported each other in the close exchanges. The pack was well supported by the sniping runs of scrum-half Nathan Lloyd.

The Otters' tackling was superb, with Martin Rowland and Philip Burgess in the thick of these exchanges.

Milford had the edge in the rucks with their astute reading of the rucking laws on when the ball can be handled. Even though rucking and mauling are difficult for young players to get to grips with, the Narberth youngsters must realise that more work is required in order to retain the well-won possession from set-pieces.

Narberth controlled the lineouts through the efforts of Burgess and second row Brynley Toms, who also crossed for two tries in the first half and created the third for prop Thomas Bradbury, who was always in support.

Aidan Staples demonstrated his speed and elusiveness from fly-half on several occasions, but the Milford defence kept him out with their excellent cover tackling.

Toms rounded off the scoring with his third try from a five-metre penalty.

Narberth have a return match away against Ammanford on Sunday and will be looking to avenge a home defeat in November by 52-35.
