Residents in Narberth have been left ‘disgruntled’ at the mess being left on a road alongside the site entrance of new a housing development.
Local resident and chartered architect Ken Morgan said that Persimmon Homes - the developers behind a new housing scheme on Station Road opposite the old school and swimming pool, are ‘disregarding highway safety’ with the mess they are creating along the route.
He also claims that the site’s construction team are failing to use safety barriers too.
“Pembrokeshire County Council should be ashamed of what they have allowed Persimmon to get away with in Narberth,” said Mr. Morgan in correspondence sent to officers at the authority and local county councillors.
“I will be inviting all of you to come and meet a delegation of disgruntled residents and motorists who have had to put up with unnecessary filth on the Public Highway for far too long.
“The thick mud trail stretches for hundreds of yards each side of the site entrance,” continued Mr. Morgan, who also posted photographs highlighting the mess in the road and on his car from a journey this week.
After contacting PCC’s head of streecare Marc Owen on the matter, Mr. Morgan gave an update on the situation on Wednesday after the Authority’s officers had been out to inspect the site.
“I don’t know what your officers decided this morning but their visit has clearly failed to improve the state of the filth brought on to the road,” responded Mr. Morgan in further correspondence to Mr. Owen and other county council representatives.
“The song ‘Mud glorious mud’ comes to mind!
“How can the road be kept clean when the site machines and delivery vehicles are wallowing in mud.
“There should be a clean wash off area on the site entrance,” he added.
