The Festival of Remembrance at St. Andrew's Church, Narberth, was held on Sunday evening. The presiding chaplain was the Rev. A. Chiplin, while the president was Dr. Geraint Rees, who addressed the large congregation before the Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving.

The Goodwick Brass Band, under their conductor Mr. Dennis Wheeler, provided a stirring selection of music, including solo items by artists from the band. They also provided the accompaniment for the hymns, the National Anthems and selected choir items.

The Whitland and District Male Choir, under their conductor Juliet Rossiter and her accompanist Hefina Jones, sang a selection of Welsh and English choral items.

The Act of Remembrance was spoken by Mr. Tom Thomas, president of the Narberth branch RBLI, which culminated in the Last Post and The Reveille sounded by the branch bugler, Mrs. Julie Phillips. During the silence, a shower of poppy petals drifted down on to the congregation from the church ceiling.

The Festival and Act of Remembrance - a solemn and moving service - ended with the singing of the two National Anthems and the Blessing.

"When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow we gave our today."

Excellent refreshments were afterwards served to the civic dignitaries, the band and choir by the lady members of the RBL. They were thanked by the Rev. A. Chiplin.
