Grace Church The House Doctor's advice would be simple, get the clutter out and go for more neutral colours. Where does one start, the garage, the attic, study or office? The office appeared the best place, filing cabinets were bulging and 'what with' appeared a sensible question, the study to follow. So for a few months now book shelves are sorted, filing cabinets one by one are emptied. Operation garage is in sight. Diversions were numerous, pieces of paper, newspaper cuttings, mail, so many places to stop on the journey. Discoveries made, memories refreshed, important files now irrelevant. How much time and energy were given to things that had no long term value. People who ran well at the front of the pack after a few years now have drifted and out of sight. Others who appeared to be a few steps behind, knew how to pace themselves, and gain strength. Ones that I may have undervalued, misjudged, are now saints and such a help. A few whose paths crossed and ran parallel for a period, but were a source of encouragement and enabled one to be further on. Too often, many pieces of paper about things, personalities, empires, programmes and not enough about God. Reminders of the student who was assessed by his tutors when speaking to staff and peers. His paper was returned with an A grade, but also listed was Jesus Christ who got a zero. The message had uplifted the speaker, but sadly elevated him above his subject. Too much about man, too little about Jesus. The garage will be easier. Old tins of paint, pieces of wood, and slate, kept for 'just in case' are easier to dispose of than clutter in my personal spiritual filing cabinets. Grace Church meet every Sunday at the Queen's Hall, Narberth, at 10.30 am - coffee from 10 am.

NARBERTH BAPTIST FELLOWSHIP Sometimes the early decisions we take in childhood or teenage years have consequences for the rest of our lives. When Jesus Christ called four fishermen from Galilee to follow him (Matthew 4:18-22), they had no idea of the magnitude of where that calling would lead them. They did not know that they would face persecution, prison, and even death for the sake of the gospel of Christ. They did not realise that they would be the leaders of the infant church that would eventually span the globe. The same is true of us today. When Jesus calls, and we follow, we do not know what He might be pleased to do in our lives. We do not know where or how we will serve, or the cost that following Christ will demand. The call of Christ is relational. He does not call you to a concept or an ideology or a philosophy or an institution. "Follow Me," "Come here after Me," Jesus demanded. It was a call to relationship, to know Him as friend, rabbi, redeemer and Lord. It was a call to learn of Him, to listen to what He taught, to observe the details of His life, to receive rebuke and instruction from Him. It was a call to love Jesus more than any earthly treasure, to find Him as the pearl of great price that consumes the mind, the hidden treasure that one sells all that he has to buy (Matt 13:44-46). Like the disciples, we are called to follow Christ - not Church or Church tradition, not leaders or preachers or TV evangelists. "My sheep hear my voice," Jesus said. CATHOLIC CHURCH
