INNER WHEEL CLUB

President Pearl Holding welcomed members of the Inner Wheel Club of Narberth and Whitland to the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth, on a pleasant autumnal evening and everyone chatted briefly about holidays and activities during the summer break. Club secretary, Jan Haddleton, produced a large amount of mail, mostly from Inner Wheel Headquarters in London, relating to future events and also to the Great Britain and Ireland Conference to be held in Blackpool in April 2008. President Pearl is pleased that many members will be travelling with her on the District coach, efficiently organised as usual, by past District chairman, Mrs. Ann Jackson, of Fishguard Club, regrettably for the last time as she is retiring and will be a hard act to follow. The preparations were discussed for the traditional afternoon tea at Whitland Town Hall on October 18 with the innovation of a Rotary Bottle Stall. Members will provide the tablecloths, tea-sets and cake stands for the dainty sandwiches and cakes. Tickets are available from the president and members.

Grace Church (KCF)

Grace Church (KCF) is an all age church who meet every Sunday morning at 10.30 am at the Queen's Hall, Narberth. Last Sunday, saw many of the church back and refreshed after a week of powerful worship and celebration at Grapevine, the international Christian celebration at the Lincolnshire showground. This event, now in its 26th year, was attended by over 12,000 Christians of all ages. The worship was dynamic, the speakers were world class and the presence of the Holy Spirit was tangible. It proved a life-changing experience for many, including the 30 young people who came from Pembrokeshire's Synchronize. Picking up the gospel theme, Phil Prosser, spoke at Grace Church on the love of God, explaining that nothing can separate the Christian from that love. God is for us, therefore nothing can be against us, even adverse circumstances working in our favour. Phil emphasised from the scripture that nothing, including death, life, angels, demons, the present, the future, powers, height, depth nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. Many people asked for prayer for physical healing and were anointed with oil. We shall be holding a public water baptism at Narberth swimming pool on Sunday, September 16, at 1 pm. The offices of Grace Church are at the Court House, Market Square, Narberth. We are members of the Evangelical Alliance and a registered charity.

NARBERTH BAPTIST FELLOWSHIP A 60-year-old couple were celebrating 40 years of marriage when a genie appeared and said, "Because you have been such a loving couple all those years, I would like to give you each one wish." The wife quickly chimed in, "I want to travel around the world." The genie waved his arms and, poof!, she had the tickets in her hand. The husband paused for a moment, then said shyly, "Well, I'd like to have a wife 30 years younger than me." The genie waved his arms and, poof!, the husband was 90-years-old. Which of us hasn't sat and wondered, 'If a genie granted me three wishes, what would I wish for?' Some even imagine God to be like a magic genie waiting at our beck and call to give us everything we ask for. They are going to be so disappointed. But even so, God works powerfully in those who trust Him, as St. Paul says of God - " He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power at work within us..." (Ephesians 3:20-21). In our church we have evidence of God doing more than we can ask or think. For example, our dear friend Olive who at age 94 and minutes away from death in Withybush Hospital, spoke her last words to us, that "she was alright." Her body was not alright, but her state of mind was fine and her soul was at peace. Sometimes we offer to pray for others saying, "It's the least I can do." How wrong we are. Considering the power of God, it's probably the most we can do!
