KCF- WEST WALES
Professor Roy Peacock, who has the Chair in Aeronautical Studies at Pisa University, Italy, was the speaker at KCF.
When interviewed by Paul Dando concerning 'how can you be a scientist and believe in God?', he replied 'that is not the question, the question is how can I be a scientist and not believe in God?'.
Professor Peacock said that as a scientist you simply have to believe there is a God and then listed several outstanding people through the centuries who were scientists and believed in God. He then opened the Bible and spoke from Luke 4 on Jesus being anointed to preach the good news and wholeness coming to people's lives.
The meeting commenced at 10.30 am and ended at 1 pm.
KCF are an active all age church, a member of the evangelical alliance and a registered charity, gathering every Sunday at 10.30 am in the Queen's Hall in Narberth.
NARBERTH BAPTIST FELLOWSHIP
We live in a world where certain individuals hold great sway. Terrorist leaders have sufficient influence that many are prepared to murder and be killed for their cause. The day of the personality cult has its dark side.
The media bombards us with so called personalities. Often it doesn't really matter what the people stand for or what they believe, but their image, how they come across, is everything. The early church in Corinth was the same. These Christians were getting into cliques based on personality cults.
Something was not right in the Corinthian Church. Their behaviour suggested that when it came to maturity, these Christians were still in their nappies! St. Paul wrote: "I fed you with milk, not solid food; for you were not ready for it" (1 Corinthians 3:2). The immature behaviour in view was their childish rivalry of each other and their leaders.
The attention of the Corinthian Christians should have been fastened on God who alone brings about spiritual growth. The world famous tenors, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti, were performing together back in the early '90s. A reporter tried to press the issue of competitiveness between the three men.
"You have to put all of your concentration into opening your heart to the music," Domingo said. "You can't be rivals when you're together making music."
The same is true of God's church.
We concluded with prayer for those who are sick and we sang that wonderful hymn, 'Nearer my God to Thee'.
NBF is a member church of the South Wales Baptist Association and meets at 6.30 pm Sundays in the chapel at Pant-y-Gorphwys Farmhouse, near the Penblewin roundabout.
