Narberth’s Mayor has moved to quash rumors surrounding this year’s Civic Week and Carnival.
Civic Week will start on Sunday, June 20, finishing with one of the most popular days on the calendar for the locality, with Narberth Carnival to take place on Saturday, June 26.
Posting on social media, Cllr Chris Walters the town’s Mayor who also wears the hat of Civic Week chairman, shared: “So already a rumour mill has started - ‘Narberth Civic Week isn't happening this year’...’Civic Week is folding’... Bla bla bla...Well... a lot of chat chat that is intended to put a dampener on a week run by vounteers is a load of rubbish!
“Let us be the first to address Narberth Civic Week WILL be going ahead! Pram Push will be weather dependent, and the Carnival will be at 2pm; and if you know someone who is spreading rumors please direct them to the committee as they can come volunteer!
“We are behind on our plans - we can admit that, but a lot is happening in the background which nobody sees.
“Advertising letters will be going out, so thank you to all businesses who continue to support us.
“We also have a little backlog of enquiries - these will be answered shortly. Thanks all,” continued.

The carnival will revert back to its usual time of 2pm as well this year.
“Following on the trail from last year, bringing the Carnival forward, we have decided, following the feedback, it wasn't right,” explained Cllr Walters.
“Therefore, the committee has decided to revert back to the 2pm start time. We tested it, tried it...it didn't work...so time to move on and revert back - you live and learn as they say!
“We plan to announce some events in the next few weeks as well as some changes to our timetable.
