NARBERTH U12s 17 pts CARDIGAN 15
Narberth won the toss and asked Cardigan to kick off.
It was evident from the start that Cardigan wanted to keep the game tight and play using the forwards, and this they did extremely well. Catching Narberth's forwards out, they stole the ball and put pressure onto Narberth straight away.
Narberth's defence held well as Cardigan probed first one way then the other, but eventually Cardigan opened the scoring with an unconverted try.
This early set-back seemed to spur Narberth into action as they started to exert pressure on Cardigan, with their backs holding the edge, and moving the ball quickly across the pitch, then back again to score an unconverted try wide out.
The remainder of the half was played out with no more points being added.
In the second half, Narberth began to take control, with their forwards gaining the upper hand and allowing their backs to run at Cardigan, and it was not long before they were on the board with another try wide out.
Narberth's third try was scored soon after and this one was under the posts, and so was an easy conversion - this was later to prove decisive.
After this, Narberth started to take their foot of the gas and allowed Cardigan back in the game by scoring two tries wide out, which they failed to convert, so Narberth ran out eventual winners by two points.

Sunday saw Narberth play at home to Cardigan, who kicked off. During the opening exchanges both sides tested each other's defences and each came close to scoring on several occasions.
With plenty of vocal support from the home crowd, Narberth stepped up the pressure, and after several phases of good all round team work, they were rewarded with a try scored by their threequarters.
The second half saw Narberth pile on the pressure, with their forwards and backs linking well. A move which started on the right saw the ball travel through several pairs of hands before being touched down for a second Narberth try.
Cardigan, not to be outdone, replied with a try which began deep in their own half.
Shaken from their complacency, Narberth attacked the Cardigan line and a searing run by their outside-half saw them score their third try.
Narberth's fourth try resulted from some excellent work by their forwards, who came close to scoring another, only to be denied by some excellent tackling by the Cardigan back row.
NARBERTH U11s 10 pts. CARDIGAN 50
To use a familiar footballing expression, this was a 'game of two halves'.
The first half was even, with both sides working hard to dominate the set-pieces. In particularly fine form was the Narberth scrum-half and captain, James Lewis who scored both the Narberth tries.
The second of James's tries followed some excellent ball handling skills by the Narberth forwards and saw James being put over in the corner.
Team changes following the break saw Narberth lose their rhythm and Cardigan took full advantage. The Cardigan forwards secured control, particularly of open play, and were able to provide their backs with enough ball to score another eight tries.

The Narberth Under 13s rugby team travelled to Cardigan on Sunday hoping to improve on their narrow away win of last season.
The visitors kicked-off and immediately put the home side under pressure, with the forwards making a number of strong drives towards the Cardigan line and linking well with their threatening backs. They were kept out by a well organised and hard tackling Cardigan defence, but after about seven minutes, centre Nick Jones cut through for the first try.
From the re-start, Narberth quickly drove up-field and re-established themselves in the Cardigan half. The home defence was again put to the test for long periods as the visitors' pack got the better of their opposite numbers.
Narberth's half-backs were proving a handful, with clever running and good variations in their play as they linked with their strong-running centres. This period of pressure paid off when hooker Jamie Lewis ran past a number of defenders to score a converted try.
Despite Narberth's territorial dominance, they then quickly conceded a try to the very impressive Cardigan inside centre, Aled Jones, before hitting back again with an unconverted try from speedy fullback Gethin Salter.
Before half-time, both fly-half Rhodri James and dynamic number eight Rian Whatmore touched down to see their tries disallowed.
The second half was a much more equally balanced contest as the home pack began to gain the upper hand. Narberth defended well and threatened on occasions, but it was the elusive Aled Jones who scored the only try of this half to bring the final score to 12 points to 17.
At the end, both sides were complimented on an excellent game of rugby.
The Narberth team was: Paul Brown, Sam Webster-Smith, Ben Davies, Sam Macnaghton, Jamie Lewis, Gareth Jones, Luke Davies, Rian Whatmore, John Boswell, Tom Watkins, Daniel Adams, Rhodri James, William Roberts, Daniel Higginson, Gavin James, Rory Bennett, Nick Jones, Sammy Hampson and Gethin Salter.
