A budding Narberth footballer has had plenty to smile about in the past couple of weeks as he's managed to break into Swansea City FC's first team squad. Sixteen-year-old Joe Allen, who has attended the Swansea City School of Excellence since the age of nine, has been handed the number 32 shirt this season. So far, Joe has gained six caps playing for Wales Under 17s, and a further three caps playing for the Under 19s. Since July of last year, he has played with the Swans Youth School. This season, after his call-up to the first team squad, he was announced as a substitute for the FA Cup away trip to Sheffild United, where the Swans managed to pull off a giant-killing act, beating the Premiership side three-nil. Joe again featured as substitute in last weekend's away league trip to Bradford City, where the Swans were denied a win by a last minute penalty. Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the Swans entertain Nottingham Forest at the Liberty Stadium in a top- of-the-table clash that could see Joe make his home debut for the club.
