Two popular Narberth firefighters were recently honoured for their long service and dedication to the community.
They were watch manager Paul Morris, who has served over 31 years, and Gareth Nicolas, who has served 37 years.
County Clr. Wynne Evans, who was recently appointed as vice-chairman of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Resources, said:
"I praise both Paul and Gareth for their tremendous work over many years serving the community and much wider area.
"Over the years, they have had many traumatic incidents to deal with. They are professional in all aspects of their duties, and under the command of Paul Morris, the crew has a leader to be proud of.
"They also play an active part in the community and raise funds for local organisations, as well as the firefighters' own charity."
Clr. Evans continued: "We must also remember their lifesaving role as the co-responder and the fast response to calls is second to none, with many lives again saved.
"From April 2011 until March 2012, over 63 co-responder calls were made and they offer an invaluable service to us all.
"Narberth has a station and crew to be so proud of.
"The fire brigade is always looking out for retained firefighters at stations right across the county, so if you are interested, please call the fire service recruitment line on 01267 242636."
