Narberth CP School has received a huge boost to its sports provision thanks to a generous donation from Narberth Civic Week – with over £2,000 worth of brand-new sports equipment delivered to the school, following a brilliant wishlist created by pupils and school council.

The donation includes lots of PE essentials for pupils.

“One of the top requests from the children was a new wall-mounted basketball hoop – and not only did we deliver that, but we also included a disabled-accessible hoop to ensure everyone can take part equally,” said Civic Week chair Cllr Chris Walters.

“As part of the visit, we also had the pleasure of giving a short talk to the whole school about Civic Week – asking who was excited for it and sharing what it’s all about. Great energy from the pupils, and lots of hands in the air when we asked who’d be coming along!

“Supporting our local school in a way that promotes health, fun, and inclusion fits perfectly with what Civic Week is all about.

“This is one of the big reasons I love being involved – the giving back. Being able to donate such a meaningful amount to a local cause is incredibly rewarding. As volunteers, we give up a full week of our time every summer to raise money – and seeing it directly benefit the community like this makes every bit of it worthwhile,” he added.

Mr. Ryan Pearce, Teacher and Sports Coordinator at Narberth CP School said: “This donation provided us with a great opportunity to act upon suggestions – particularly with a new basketball hoop for the yard, which has been a popular suggestion all year.

“Health and wellbeing is a major focus for us at Narberth School, and these resources are greatly appreciated to help with P.E. and extracurricular sessions.”
