Narberth is considering the possibility of twinning with the English town of Ludlow, following their strong connections with the town's food festivals.
"We are looking into the possibility, as we have not just food and cultural links with the town of Ludlow, but also strong historical ties," revealed Clr. Wynne Evans at Narberth Town Council's AGM on Tuesday evening.
The twinning of the two towns would be quite unique in that there have never been two other Welsh and English towns that have made the move to match-up before.
"This could be a very big development and should be given proper consideration; it would be a real first for a Welsh and English town," commented new Mayor, Clr. Henry Langen.
"I feel there is a lot more of an historical connection than we might believe, as one of the most significant things that the two towns have in common is that both have Roman castles built by the Mortimer families," he added.
