The annual charity lunch was held at the Plas Hyfryd County Hotel, Narberth, on July 19. An excellent three-course meal, followed by coffee, was served by the most charming and highly professional waitresses to 126 guests on the large marquee set up on the front lawn.
A beautifully decorated, 40th anniversary, two-tier cake, cooked, decorated and donated by Mrs. Linda Walters was served with the coffee. The top tier was later auctioned and raised £20.
Neil Jackson and nine beautiful young ladies provided entertainment throughout the afternoon, namely Miss Jessica Robinson, of Llandissilio, who played the harp and sang two solos, 'Any Dream Will Do' and 'My Heart Will Go On'. Jodie Warlow sang 'Diolch am y Mor'.
Hearsay (Nikki Warlow, Jodie Warlow and Mary Owen) entertained with a disco dance, as did the Narberth Dream Team (Danielle Phillips, Shelley Morris, Charlene Morris and Hannah Jones).
Miss Sophie Macintosh then gave a very professional unaccompanied solo. Mr. David Napier was also persuaded to sing, and after a collection amounting to £92 sang the beautiful ballad 'I Did It My Way'.
Mr. David Napier, director of BHF Wales, then presented long service awards to the following committee members:
Tom and Edith Thomas, 15 years; Ralph and Venetia Dunbar, Cyril Williams, Brian and Gwenda Mason and Linda Walters, all 10 years. Unable to attend were Dilwyn Evans, 15 years, Joan Whiterod and Mavis Marrell, both 10 years.
A knitted doll donated by Mrs. Dunbar was raffled and raised £94.
The main raffle raised £144. An exercise bike donated by Mrs. Whiterod raised £35. Donations received from people who were unable to attend amounted to a further £280, making a grand total of £795 in all.
The next event is a Country and Irish evening featuring Huw Evans at the Rugby Football Club on Saturday evening at 8 pm. Tickets are available at £3 or you can pay at the door.
