Narberth branch members supported the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Wear it. Beat it. campaign by holding a Wear Red coffee morning on Saturday at the RAOB Social Club in Narberth and raised a total of £560.

Did you know that one in four of our loved ones are lost to heart and circulatory disease each year? It kills more women than men and is responsible for almost 160,000 deaths in the UK each year, an average of 440 people each day. There are currently seven million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory disease.

On February 6, the BHF asked the great British public to Wear it. Beat it. and host a red-themed event in support of the fight for every heartbeat.

Ralph Dunbar, chairman of the branch, said: "It was an excellent event and was very well attended. We are proud to have raised over £500 for the BHF and to have helped continue to fund the vital research needed to fight heart disease. We would like to thank everyone who supported us on the day and donated raffle prizes. Thank you all so much."

Louise Parkes, fundraising director at the BHF, said: "A huge thanks to everyone for their red-themed fundraising efforts. It has been fantastic to witness the UK rallying together and turning red in the fight against heart and circulatory disease. All money raised from Wear it. Beat it. will help us truly make a massive difference to the millions of people living with these conditions."
