Sir,

Did the councillor who proposed banning advertising on the railings at the top of Narberth High Street actually ask the opinions of Narberth residents before putting forward the proposal in council, and why did other councillors support her?

I have spoken to many residents since reading your report last week and nobody was in favour of removing banners. They rightly stated that this advertising for Civic Week events, Span events, the annual plant sale, many charity fundraising events and the blood transfusion service has been going on for decades to the definite advantage of the people of Narberth and the surrounding areas. There is no better alternative sight within the town and at a time when things are hard it is ridiculous to forbid this Narberth asset.

I thought our elected councillors should have the interest of their voters foremost, but it appears that in some instances this is not the case.

Angela Walker,

Narberth.
