There were a few 5-4 wins last week, with two of them going to the final frame. However, the SSSC A needed the other three before them as they were at one point 4-1 down at home to the Greenbridge A. The Dragon A also won on the last frame after they struggled in the singles going 3-1 down at home to the Bush Robeston (which included the worst miss on the black I've ever seen) - I won't mention his name. The other teams winning 5-4 were the leaders Kilgetty RAOB A over Temple Bar A, while the Jeff A took a 5-1 lead, but lost all the doubles against the Cresselly. The Stanley Arms B move off the bottom of the table after a good 6-3 home win against local rivals Lawrenny Sports, while the RAOB A matched that score and sent the Hean to the abyss of the league.
The B League saw the top four all pick up wins, the RAOB B stay top after their 5-4 win over the Jeff B, while the remaining sides all scored big 7-2 away wins, with Whitland Dairies securing the points at the Eagle, the Iron Duke made the quick trip up the road to the Bush Llan worthwhile, and Kilgetty RAOB B cemented the KSSC's position at the bottom of the table. The other matches saw the SSSC B climb up the table with a win at the Temple Bar B, while the Wisemans had to win the last two doubles to take the points off the Cross Clarbeston.
The C League's big match saw an important win for the Station House B over near rivals the Alpha A to stay in contention for trophies, although the Whitland Bowls are still holding second place after a big win over the Dragon B.
The White Horse teams had a good night, with the A team staying four points clear after a win over the Stanley A, while their B team came away from the Taf with a 5-4. The Greenbridge B got back to winning ways against the Sporting Chance, and the RFC made it two wins in three matches as they defeated the Begelly Arms. The Alpha B made it three straight wins after their trip to the Cross Broadmoor.
NB: This Sunday sees the last eight of the Triples take place.
Also on this Saturday, March 7, there is an Open Pool Knockout taking place at the Temple Bar. Entries must be in by tonight (Friday) at a cost of £2 (payable tomorrow). Matches start at 10.30 am, with £500 in prize money up for grabs: winner £350, runner-up £100, furthest lady £50. Tel: Temple Bar on 01834 812486.
