In the A League, top team Kilgetty RAOB A suffered their third defeat of the season, going down by 6-3 at the improving Station House A. That result meant that the Dragon A had the chance to take over at the top if they beat the Dingle. And it wasn't a great start as they went 3-1 down, but then managed to find themselves 4-3 up. And yes, you guessed, they blew it and lost the match (same old story) seeing the Dingle right back in the hunt - and I'm not saying it was a slow match, but I'm sure I saw a postman going to work as we left.
The table is now wide open and the Greenbridge A made the most of their match in hand by beating the Hean 9-0 and then taking all the points at Cresselly to go third. The SSSC A made it a miserable week for the Hean team as they also won 9-0 at the Hean, making it their fourth whitewash defeat of the season.
Middle of the league teams the Bush Robeston and the Jeff A picked up wins at the Stanley B and home to the Temple Bar A, respectively. The other result saw a surprise 7-2 win for Lawrenny SC over the RAOB A.
The big match in the B League saw a last frame win for second place team the RAOB B over leaders Whitland Dairies, seeing both teams now four points ahead of the chasing pack after there were shock defeats for the Iron Duke at the SSSC B and Kilgetty RAOB at home to the Cross Clarbeston, who are on a good run at the moment.
Lower placed teams picked up points, with the Bush Llan beating fellow strugglers the SSSC C, and the Eagle over mid-table team the Wisemans Bridge. Other results saw wins for the Temple Bar B with a last frame victory over the Jeff B and the Angel Llan taking all the doubles at the KSSC.
In the C League, the White Horse A remain top, even though their match against the Greenbridge B was postponed, as their B team entertained the Station House B, seeing the Whitland side winning by 6-3 after being 3-2 down. Whitland Bowls swap places with the Alpha A after beating them well, while the Taf had a mixed week, losing to the in-form Alpha B 7-2, and then beating the Stanley A by 8-1.
And the Alpha B came away with another big win, this time at home to the Dragon B, to leave themselves well clear of the bottom teams. The RFC still can't seem to get out of their rut, losing again to the Sporting Chance. The other match saw a battle at the bottom, with the Cross, Broadmoor, taking the points against the Begelly Arms.
PS: Next week, a run down of the top 20 players in each league will be printed.
