A re-telling of Sleeping Beauty will form an unforgettable evening of drama and music at Narberth's Queens Hall, on Thursday, February 19.
Sleeping Beauty is a familiar story, best known as a pantomime or a children's fairy-tale. But Sleeping Beauty is a haunting and powerful tale of love, death and re-birth, filled with heart-stopping emotion.
The Greek myth of Alcestis deals with similar themes - a heroine who offered to die for her love, and was rescued from the underworld and re-born. Together, the two stories will form an unforgettable evening of drama and music.
Award-winning storyteller Daniel Morden breathes new life into these two stories. Daniel is an author and storyteller who captures and thrills audiences wherever he goes, conjuring timeless, vivid images, stirring the imagination and touching the hearts of his listeners.
The performance features extraordinary original music from violinist Oliver Wilson-Dixon and guitarist Dylan Fowler.
Oliver and Dylan are two of the finest musicians in contemporary traditional music. They play with Balkan Gypsy sensations Szapora, a remarkable collaboration between two Bosnian singing sisters, five British musicians and a Polish gypsy. This fabulous group has become legendary for brilliant, mesmerising performances of songs and dances from central and eastern Europe. The pair also feature in the Ian Macmillan Orchestra, which has featured on the South Bank Show and at the BBC Proms Plus. The show would be a must-see for the music alone.
The doors will be open at 7.30 pm, with the performance starting at 8pm. Tickets are £9 or £7 for Span Arts members or concessions.
They are available from the Span Arts website at http://www.span-arts.org.uk">www.span-arts.org.uk or on 01834 869323.
