The tiny chapel of Burnett's Hill, near Martletwy, has gained a reputation for being one of the top venues in West Wales for folk and world music, and the programme for 2006 is the most ambitious yet. John Renbourn, The Mellstock Band and The Sultans of Squeeze are among the top artists already confirmed to perform at the chapel during the next few months, while the concert season kicks off on Thursday, January 19, with the appearance of Little Rumba. A trio from the Shropshire borders, Little Rumba comprises members of the sadly defunct Tango Band, including John Hymas, who is probably better known in Pembrokeshire as the fiddle player in his other band, Hoover the Dog. The three members of Little Rumba perform an eclectic mixture of blues and jazz music, tango tunes and Balkan rhythms on a variety of instruments, mainly sax, guitar, accordion and fiddle. The band will be playing a lunchtime concert at the Cardiff Millennium Centre before moving on to the slightly humbler surroundings of Burnett's Hill for the evening concert at 7.30 pm. Tickets, £5 each, are available from the Pembroke Bookshop.
