Opening his own private museum to groups has led to popular Kilgetty resident, Peter Thomas, presenting a cheque for £265 to the Cancer Day Unit at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.
The Magpie's Nest Museum features around 5,000 fascinating artefacts from old cars, bikes, tractors and farm machinery and tools to Victorian prams, memorabilia from World Wars One and Two, aircraft parts, medals, keys, locks, kitchen utensils, postcards, coins and birthday cards from the early 1900s.
Peter has been collecting items from bygone years since 1970 and among the groups to have visited his unique museum and made donations have been Tenby Civic Society; Tivy Valley Vintage Club, Cardigan, whose driver, Myrddin Jones, brought them in a 1950 bus and gave his fee for driving to the charity as well; Llandeilo Vintage/Classic Car Club; Fred Charlescroft, builder, and an American friend; and French students from the South of France who were on an exchange visit to Gelli Aur College, Carmarthen, and visited with John Hancock, who donated three very old cameras, one being French.
