AT the recently held annual general meeting, the newly-appointed chairman of 'Friends of Tenby Museum and Art Gallery', Helen Hills, thanked the retiring chairman, Mr. Brian McMahon, for the many years of dedicated service which he had given to the society. During his time as chairman, the membership of the 'Friends' grew substantially, with numbers now consistently approximating 300 and a recent liaison with Swansea's Glynn Vivian Museum has widened the horizon for members. His term of office saw the launch of the successful annual Christmas Fayre, the profits from which have enhanced the funds available to meet the year-in-year donations that help to finance various museum projects, the most recent of which has been to help purchase the bronze head of Augustus John by the internationally renowned sculptor Fiore de Henriquez. In a letter to the committee, Brian thanked current and past members and other helpers for their support and hard work in sustaining the achievements of the society during his seven years in the chair. He also wished his successor Mrs. Helen Hills every success for her term of office. Mr. McMahon was unable to attend the annual general meeting due to ill health and all of the 'Friends' join in wishing him a speedy recovery. Brian will remain as 'ex officio' chairman for the current 12 months.
