CURRENTLY on show at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery is an exhibition by Arthur Giardelli entitled 'Paintings and Relief Constructions'.
Born in London in 1911, Arthur Giardelli has lived and worked in Wales for over 50 years. Among his contemporaries were fellow artists Cecil Morris, David Jones and Ceri Richards.
Arthur Giardelli has been a key figure in the influential 56 Group Wales of which he is current president and has arranged exhibitions of the group's work throughout Europe.
His work is represented in many public and private collections, including those of The Tate Britain, The National Museum and Gallery of Wales, The Arts Council of Wales, The Arts Council of Great Britain, The Contemporary Art Society for Wales and many other galleries in Britain, Europe and North America.
In addition to his work as an artist, Arthur Giardelli has a high reputation as an art historian and lecturer.
This retrospective exhibition contains oil paintings, watercolours and relief constructions, illustrating over 70 years of the artist's work.
On Wednesday, January 15, he will give and illustrated talk on his work at the museum at 2.30 pm. It is advisable to book places for this talk as space is strictly limited (tel: 01834 842809). Admission to the talk is free, but donations to the museum's funds are welcome.
The exhibition continues until February 7. Museum hours: 10 am - 5 pm (last admission 4.30).
