Have you ever fancied yourself as a sleuth - need to exercise the little grey cells?

On Friday, February 22, Tenby Library will be teaming up with 'See Saw Murder Mystery Group' to entertain you with this unique and potent mix of intrigue laced with laughter. This is part of a new initiative by the library to offer to the community, free of charge, a wide range of events, including the best of entertainment that local talent can provide.

The original murder mystery group was set up by Mike Thorne in 1999, raising, over the years, thousands of pounds for charities throughout the county. Mike moved away from the area two years ago, and handed over the reins to Hilary and Len Harvey, two of our most accomplished local thespians, with a lifetime's experience between them of treading the board's.

It was while working in Bath, nearly 20 years ago, that they set up 'See Saw Productions', and then exported it to Hilary's home turf, Pembrokeshire. Since then the highly accomplished group have gone from strength to strength, exporting shows as far afield as France and even the Middle East. It was from this pool of talent that the 'Murder Mysteries' evolved. Hilary is hoping that their next 'murder evening' will help to showcase her favourite library.

"What a wonderful resource we have here in Tenby," and in this her thoughts are echoed by June Howell, who writes the scripts. "I continue to be surprised at the scope and the range of books on the shelves. Googling is great, but there's nothing to compare with real books. Fortunately I found several on the Titanic in Tenby Library."

'Sea Saw's' current production commemorates the (recent) 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, with a fictional slant on what might have been going on below decks before disaster hit. From state rooms to steerage, all of Edwardian society was contained within the Titanic, which is part of her enduring fascination. Expect to meet an American silent-movie star, a poor Irish emigrant, an English Aristocratic lady, a wealthy retired jockey and a member of the ship's entertainment staff... suspects who are all strangely connected to the cabin steward who is found stabbed in the lift on Deck C.

Come along to Tenby Library to assist White Star's chairman, Sir Bruce Ismay, to solve this heinous crime. Light refreshments will be served to assist the little grey cells and the first table to discover the murderer's identity will be awarded a prize.

Edwardian dress is not obligatory, but all the better if ladies can dig out a big hat and a long frock. Gentleman, evening suit, or if you prefer, go nautical or just plain steerage!
