Local MP Nick Ainger has called on train company Arriva to sort out the flooded approach to Saundersfoot station immediately.

Mr. Ainger said: "I wrote to Arriva after a Saundersfoot resident contacted me about the poor state of the approach to the station.

"I visited on Saturday and was appalled by the condition of the approach. For about 20 metres and across its full width, the track is covered in water up to a foot deep, with hidden potholes.

"Pedestrians are at risk of slipping into the water and anyone with a baby buggy or luggage couldn't get through. Cars risk damage from the depth of the water and the hidden potholes. This station is virtually cut off for some passengers.

"Residents tell me that the water is there most of the year, not just after heavy rain.

"The approach needs massive improvement, including a decent turning area for cars. While I was there, two young passengers were dropped off by a taxi, which refused to go through the flooded area. If they had been disabled, they could not have caught the train.

"This is the worst station approach I have ever seen. It will leave a very poor impression on visitors arriving or leaving by train.

"I have called on Arriva for urgent action."
