A local MP has climbed aboard to help raise awareness of a community trying to save their play park.

Equipment at the Skrinkle estate play park in Manorbier is to be removed by Pembrokeshire County Council at the end of the summer due to safety issues, and a Facebook group has been set up by local parents to try and raise funds.

A ‘positive meeting’ was held last Friday morning on site with MP Simon Hart, local county councillor Phil Kidney, and the play park committee.

“We are now looking for local businesses and tradesmen to help support our fundraising towards replacing park equipment that has come to the end of its’ life,” explained Andrea Danielle Thomas, of the Save Manorbier Skrinkle Play Park Facebook group, who added that any ideas, contributions or help would be gratefully received.

Mr. Hart said that the park was ‘vital’ to the community and he hoped that everyone would get behind the campaign to save it, while Clr. Kidney said that the residents’ attitude had been “absolutely brilliant” and the way they had taken on the challenge was “very encouraging”.

“The minute they were told that the park equipment was going to be taken away, they adopted a positive attitude and formed their fundraising committee,” said Clr. Kidney.
