Doctors working in war-torn Syria will benefit from a collection being held at the end of a popular Tenby carol service.

Simon Hart MP wanted to support the Singing for Syrians charity that organises carol concerts to raise money for Syrians devastated by the civil war.

He approached Tenby’s Rector, Rev. Canon Andrew Grace and he generously offered for the retiring collection at St. Mary’s Church candlelit nine lessons and carols to go to the charity.

“This is a wonderful charity that pays the salaries of medical staff in Syrian hospitals and also supports the National Syrian Project for Prosthetic Limbs,” explained Mr. Hart.

“There is a flagship concert being held in Westminster but I wanted to help them raise a bit more money and let them know that Pembrokeshire cares about Syria too.”

Rev. Canon Grace added: “Our traditional candlelit nine lessons and carols on the last Sunday before Christmas is always very popular and I hope that the church will be full.”

Mr. Hart added: “It would be great if as many people as possible joined us to enjoy some beautiful music as well as raise some money for a very worthwhile cause.”

The Tenby service is being held at 4 pm on Sunday, December 18, all are welcome.
