This autumn, a west Wales motorcycle group is celebrating a truly remarkable milestone: 25 years of fundraising, toy deliveries, and heartwarming generosity for children receiving care from Hywel Dda University Health Board.

The 3 Amigos and Dollies Motorcycle Group are gearing up for their 25th annual Toy Run, a festive ride that brings toys and gifts to children receiving care and treatment over the Christmas period. What began as a small initiative with just eight bikes has grown into a community-powered movement that has touched thousands of lives.

Over the past quarter century, the group has:

  • Raised approximately £300,000
  • Collected around 200 one-tonne bags of toys
  • Clocked up nearly 1,500 miles delivering joy across the region.

Their signature events, the Easter Egg Run and the Toy Run, have become celebrated days in the calendar, drawing hundreds of bikers and supporters each year.

Thanks to the efforts of the 3 Amigos and Dollies, Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of the health board, has been able to fund enhancements to children’s services that go beyond what the NHS can provide.

One recent example was a donation to upgrade the play area on Cilgerran Ward at Glangwili Hospital, where members of the group even rolled up their sleeves to help paint and refurbish the space themselves.

Tobi Evans, volunteer for the 3 Amigos and Dollies Motorcycle Group, said: “When the original three members organised their first toy run, there were eight bikes and they raised £80. 25 years later, we’ve raised more money and collected more toys than we can remember.

“Now, because of the generosity of everyone who has donated, we are able to give thousands each year with hundreds of bikes joining us. We are always so humbled by the amount people give and we know it's thanks to them that we have made it to our 25th year.”

Eleanor Marks, Vice Chair of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with the 3 Amigos and Dollies Motorcycle Group.

“Their dedication, compassion, and community spirit have made a lasting impact on the lives of children and families across our region. For a quarter of a century, they’ve gone above and beyond to bring comfort and joy to those in hospital, and we are deeply grateful for everything they’ve done.”

Katie Hancock, Fundraising Officer for Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “We can’t thank the 3 Amigos and Dollies Motorcycle Group enough. Their deliveries have brought smiles to countless children across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. Whether it’s toys, Easter eggs or funds, they’ve made a real difference. Diolch!”
