Classic motors - including some of the most famous marques in history - with their proud owners provided a splendid spectacle at Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre recently.

Altogether some 50 classic, retro and more recent cars turned out on a beautifully sunny day to be shown off, and an informal prize ceremony saw 13 trophies given to participants for a range of categories.

The restored Royal Dockyard Chapel, which houses the Heritage Centre, was the historic backdrop for the event which was organised jointly between Clr. Peter Kraus, Mr. Kevin Crotty and the Heritage Centre team. Later, some of the cars joined the cavalcade for the Pembroke Dock Quins Carnival.

This was one of a number of classic car events held annually at the former dockyard chapel and it attracted lots of interest and support. A range of other events is being held during the school holidays and throughout the year, details of which are available on the centre’s website www.sunderlandtrust.com or on 01646 684220.

The centre is open between 10 am and 4 pm and for visitors this year there is an opportunity to try out the recently completed replica Sunderland Cockpit, a unique display.

* Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust, a registered charity (1120476) which runs the centre, is undertaking a big fundraising drive to continue its work preserving the community’s very significant military and social heritage.
