As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), an investigation was continuing into an incident at a South Pembrokeshire holiday attraction.
A mother and child were seriously injured when a tree fell on them at Manor House Wildlife Park, St. Florence, on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services rushed to the park shortly after 11.30 am and the woman and her three-year-old son, believed to be from Llanelli, were airlifted to hospital by air ambulance.
Both were flown to Morriston Hospital, Swansea, with serious head injuries. The mother also has possible fractures to her leg and pelvis.
On Wednesday, the child was transferred to a children's specialist unit at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
Dyfed Powys Police said yesterday that both he and his mother were in a 'stable condition'.
The park is owned by television interior designer Anna Ryder Richardson and her husband Colin MacDougall who have been 'devastated' by the incident.
In a statement, they said: "We are absolutely devastated by this and our only concern is for the little boy and his mother.
"Our thoughts are with them and their family."
A fleet of emergency vehicles attended the incident, including police, two fire crews from Tenby, who released the woman and child from under the tree, and an ambulance, rapid response vehicle, and duty officer from the Welsh Ambulance Service.
The investigation into the incident is now being conducted solely by Pembrokeshire County Council's public protection division.
The tree was examined on Wednesday in situ by a tree specialist.
"We are now awaiting his report," said a spokeswoman for the council.
The park was closed on Wednesday at the decision of the owners, but re-opened yesterday.
