Sir,

Following on the recent coverage of the Pembroke Town Hall murals, I would like to draw attention to the fact that there is a mural covering the history of Pembroke Dock which is at present on display in a glazed area directly inside the former Royal Dockyard Main Gate on Fort Road, Pembroke Dock.

This mural was completed in 1999 and is referred to as 'The Millennium Mural' and was painted by adult students attending art classes at the then Coronation Further Education Centre to my design and under my guidance and filled a complete wall in the entrance hall at the Centre.

Also in the same Dockyard display area is another mural which portrays all the headdress badges of the regiments that were stationed at Pembroke Dock during its existence as a garrison town. This again was carried out by students from my art classes at the Coronation Centre to my design with expert military guidance from Mr. Ron Watts and Mr. Colin Field. It was completed in 1999 and was on display in the Education Centre in Upper Meyrick Street prior to its closure and move to Albion Square which unfortunately did not have the necessary space for either of the murals.

In the case of the Millennium Mural, it consists of five eight-foot by four-foot panels, giving a full size of 20 by eight-foot, while the Badge Mural is eight-foot by eight-foot and contains 56 separately painted badges, plus a central figurative panel.

George Lewis,

Former adult education tutor,

Lower Lamphey Road,Pembroke.
