Further changes to a new traffic order in Tenby have been recommended by the town council this week.
Pembrokeshire County Council are currently in the process of adopting the new order which will introduce new on-street waiting restrictions in the town, as well as amend existing ones.
Local councillors agreed to the proposals at their previous meeting, but on Tuesaday night they felt that a couple of extra tweaks to some of the waiting restrictions in parking bays could be made.
Clr. Mike Evans suggested that loading bays situated in White Lion Street and on South Parade could be altered into 30-minute bays, which would also allow off-street parking from 6 pm to 8 am.
"These loading bays have become a bit of a fly-trap for those using them, and it's been a bit of a grey area, as parking enforcement officers need to see evidence of loading and unloading over a 10-minute period for those parking in them," he explained.
"This doesn't really allow enough time for someone delivering something up town to get back within 10 minutes if they're delayed, so really I think the bays would be more of a benefit to locals and shoppers if they weren't classed as loading bays and gave the opportunity for someone to shop for 30 minutes.
"It won't effect delivery drivers, because they are allowed 10 minutes anyway when they pull up outside a property, so I think these bays would be better utilised this way," added Clr. Evans, who also recommended that chevron style parking could be introduced along a section of South Parade, to maximise the amount of available on-street parking.
