FOLLOWING the success of the week of workshops at Art Matters in November, a further two weeks of workshops is now planned for the end of January. As well as the return of some favourites, some new day workshops are being offered, including some that are aimed at complete beginners. Why not make it your new year resolution to dust off your brushes, sharpen up your pencils, and get painting in 2002?
Workshops aimed at complete beginners include: 'Basic drawing' with Peter Blincow - aiming to build the confidence to draw well, it will include interpreting proportion, structure and elementary perspective; 'Beginners watercolour' with Graham Hadlow, and 'Pastels for beginners' with Arthur Lewis. Graham and Arthur will also be running workshops for those with some experience of using watercolour and pastel.
'Oil in miniature' with Philip Harris is being offered here for the first time and is suitable for all abilities. A member of the Society of Limners, Phillip is a master of this approach.
Returning with a new two-day course is Peter Rossiter. 'Freeing up' is designed to free up your approaches to painting and explore your creativity. Peter will lead the group through individual and group de-inhibiting exercises which aim to give inspiration to those who feel the need to explore new ways of working.
Helen Campbell also returns for a willow basket making day. All the materials are supplied by Helen and you leave with a great sense of satisfaction and a willow basket.
Monthly life drawing days with Claudia Williams are planned to continue on Saturdays in the spring starting in January, as well as the Wednesday evening life drawing sessions which have run through the autumn.
Some of these workshops are already filling up, so you are advised to contact Art Matters, (01834) 843375, as soon as possible for a programme if you are interested. Further workshops are planned in March and April including a demonstration evening and workshop with Sue McDonagh from Cowbridge and the return of 'Artist of the Year,' Barry Herniman.
