A 'prank' led to a court sequel for a Tenby man this week.
Eighteen-year-old Thomas William Smith appeared before magistrates in the town on Tuesday charged with taking a Ya,aha moped without consent and riding it without insurance.
Smith, of Red Lodge, Cresswell Street, admitted both offences, which took place on September 21 when he took the 49cc moped from the multi-storey car park.
Two days later, he let the injured party know that her moped was at the town's railway station car park, crown prosecutor, Mr. Tim Roberts, told the bench.
"The moped was there, it was unscathed and intact, save that the tank of petrol had been used," he said.
CCTV at the multi-storey showed the defendant with the vehicle and he was recognised by police, Mr. Roberts added.
During interview, Smith made full and frank admissions that he had taken and hid the moped as a 'prank'.
The bench agreed with a request from Smith's solicitor, Mr. Jonathan Webb, for an adjournment for the preparation of pre-sentence reports.
The bench informed Smith they were "keeping all options open" regarding sentencing and the case was subsequently adjourned until November 12.
He was released on conditional bail to co-operate with the probation service in the preparation of the reports.
