At the second monthly sale of cattle for breeders subject to movement restrictions on Thursday at Whitland Mart, there was another good entry forward comprising 68 barren cows and bulls together with 10 fat cattle and 11 overage cattle. J. J. Morris, auctioneers, report that the trade throughout was particularly brisk as demand is currently exceeding supply. Barren cows sold to a top price of £915 with others at £902, £875 (twice), £868, £855, £875, £838, £818 and £808. The overall average was £660 equating to 99.93ppk with a top price per kilo of 119p for a 630 kilo Limousin cow. A Friesian bull weighing 800 kilos sold at £655. Finished steers averaged 112.89ppk and heifers levelled at 131.77ppk. Overage steers peaked at 115ppk (500 kilos) and heifers at 107.1ppk (765 kilos).
