For the final medal of the year last Saturday, the competition organisers again had members playing from the club's championship tees. This certainly sorts the men from the boys, with only four players scoring in the 70s.

Two fine rounds by John Gottwaltz and Brian Cramb saw them lead the field.

The back tees did not deter members, however, with some 100 competitors taking part.

Results were as follows:

Division One (0-12): John Gottwaltz 71-1-70 (medal and turkey); Brian Cramb 72-0-72 (£20 credit); John Badham 79-6-73 (£15 credit); Basil Warren 83-9-74; Roger Schooling 85-11-74; Ralph Johns 84-10-74. There were 55 entries.

Division Two (13-25): John Charnock 91-18-73 (medal and turkey, second nine); Michael Schooling 87-14-73 (£25 credit); Maurice Lewis 94-18-76 (£10 credit); John Cook 98-19-79; David Morgan 96-17-79; Malcolm Arlott 96-17-79.

NB. Six competitors only managed to break 80 net!
