A glimpse of life in a Service family (a family which has a member serving in the armed forces) can be seen this month in an exhibition at the VC Gallery in High Street, Haverfordwest.

‘The Adventures of a Service Family’ is the culmination of a series of art workshops to celebrate the Month of the Military Child.

The workshops were organised by Pembrokeshire County Council and the VC Gallery, whose artists delivered the sessions at local schools attended by Service children and young people.

The schools including Haverfordwest High, Prendergast, St Francis, Puncheston, Johnston, Fenton and Pembroke Dock Community School.

The exhibition displays all the work produced by the pupils, including dandelion art and smaller piece of art on the family tree. The smaller pieces focus on memories and things that are important to the children and young people.

The workshops provided opportunities for the Service children to share their experiences with their teachers, volunteers and the Regional School Liaison Officer (RSLO) for Service children in West Wales.

The exhibition launch gave families the opportunity to come along to see the work their children had created, meet other families and those supporting Service families in the community.

They are pictured at the launch with Barry John and Steph Cross from the VC Gallery, RSLO Yasmin Todd and Community Engagement Officer Major Rob Luke.
